Three ways from Chania Airport to the town — how each one works, where to find it and what the bus costs.

Chania Airport lies on the Akrotiri peninsula, about 14 km from the city, and there are three ways to cover that distance: a KTEL bus from the stop on the east side of the terminal, a taxi from the stand across from Arrivals B, or a private transfer booked before you fly. Which one suits you depends mostly on your luggage, the time you land and where exactly you are staying.
Everything below was checked against the airport’s own website and KTEL Chania–Rethymno, the company that runs the airport buses. Fares and timetables can change — the current bus timetable is valid for September 2026 only — so the official page for each option is linked underneath it.
According to the airport, a bus service links it with Chania, Rethymno and other destinations. The buses are run by KTEL Chania–Rethymno, whose airport timetable lists a Chania Airport – Chania route every day and a separate Chania Airport – Souda – Rethymno route.
If you have not booked anything, you can take a taxi at the airport. The airport says taxi service is available there and that the taxi stand is located across from the Arrivals B area.
Book before you fly and a driver meets you in the arrivals hall with a name sign, follows your flight if it is late and takes you straight to your address. The price is fixed per vehicle and paid when you book, so there is nothing to sort out on arrival — the simplest option with children, a lot of luggage or a late landing.
