Tenerife has two airports and both are sold simply as Tenerife. The southern one, Reina Sofia, is the holiday airport. Los Cristianos, Playa de las Americas, Costa Adeje and El Medano all sit on this side, and so does most of the island accommodation.
The northern airport is a different matter. It serves Santa Cruz and La Laguna, and the north even has a different climate: cloudier and greener, where the south stays dry. Landing at the wrong one puts you at the far end of the island from your hotel, so check the code on your ticket. If you are heading over the mountains to Puerto de la Cruz, that is a climb rather than a coastal run. Your driver meets you in the arrivals hall with a name sign, the price covers the whole vehicle and your luggage and is fixed when you book, and the driver follows your flight.
