Palma de Mallorca Airport to Palma city centre: bus, taxi or transfer
Three ways from the arrivals hall to the centre of Palma — how each one works, where to find it and what it costs.

There are three ways from Palma de Mallorca Airport to the centre of Palma: the EMT A1 airport bus, which runs to Plaça d’Espanya and Passeig Mallorca, a taxi from the rank outside arrivals, or a private transfer booked before you fly. Which one suits you depends mostly on your luggage, the time you land and where exactly in Palma you are staying.
Everything below was checked against Aena, the airport operator, the city bus company EMT Palma and Palma City Council, which publishes the official taxi fares. Fares and timetables can change, so the official page for each option is linked underneath it.
EMT A1 airport bus
EMT Palma, the city bus company, runs line A1 between the airport and the centre of Palma. From the arrivals stop it calls at the Palau de Congressos, Porta des Camp, the Sindicat interchange and Plaça d’Espanya, where the intermodal station is, before ending on Passeig Mallorca.
- Where to find it
- At the bus stop on Floor 0 (Arrivals) of the terminal.
- Fare
- A single ticket to or from the airport costs €5.00, with no free transfer. Children under 5 travel free with an adult.
- How to pay
- Pay in cash on board — the maximum change given is €10 — or validate a debit or credit bank card as you board.
- Timetable
- EMT Palma publishes a frequency of every 15 minutes in the morning and afternoon. The full timetable, including the first and last departures, is on the A1 line page (linked below).
- Best for
- Light luggage, and a hotel near one of the stops in the centre.
- Good to know
- Lines A1 and A2 are only for journeys to or from the airport — you cannot use them between stops in the city. Line A2 goes to S’Arenal rather than the centre.
Taxi
Taxis wait at the signed rank outside arrivals. The airport operator advises always taking a taxi from that rank and avoiding drivers who offer rides anywhere else. Fares are regulated, and Palma City Council publishes the full tariff, including a minimum fare for journeys from the airport.

- At the signed taxi rank on Floor 0 (Arrivals) of the terminal.
- Fare
- The minimum fare from the airport is €16.95, which covers the flag fall, the airport supplement and the first 7 km. After that the meter charges €1.20 per km on weekdays between 07:00 and 21:00, and €1.35 per km at night, at weekends and on public holidays.
- How to pay
- Palma City Council lists payment by card or other electronic means among the services every taxi must offer at no extra charge.
- Best for
- Going straight to your address when you have not booked ahead.
- Good to know
- Luggage, pushchairs, guide dogs and wheelchairs are carried free, and the driver must issue a receipt — ask for one, as the airport advises, in case of any complaint. There is a supplement of €3.00 for 5 or 6 passengers and €6.00 for 7 or 8.

- Yes. TIB, the island’s bus network, runs direct airport lines: the A11 links the airport with Palmanova, Magaluf, Santa Ponça, Peguera and Camp de Mar, and the A32 with Alcúdia, Platja de Muro and Can Picafort. With luggage, a private transfer from the airport is usually much simpler.
- What is the easiest option with children or a lot of luggage?
- A pre-booked private transfer or a taxi. With a transfer, the vehicle is chosen in advance for your group and luggage, and the driver waits for you in the arrivals hall.
